They studied welding and fabrication at Sir Sandford  Fleming College, earned a BFA from NSCAD University in Halifax, and completed studies at the Gerrit Rietveld Academie in Amsterdam. Their practice works with industrial materials; discarded tools, car parts, and structural steel sourced from forests, farms, and scrapyards across rural Ontario. Using a handheld plasma cutter, Garrett cuts steel freehand, working directly with heat, gravity, and resistance. This approach treats industrial material not as inert resource but as a site of ongoing transformation, shaped by extraction, labor, and environmental exposure.
