Aaron Borchardt—Glitch Studio
Aaron Borchardt is an architectural designer and artist based in Toronto, Canada, with a degree in architecture from the Glasgow School of Art. His practice centres on glitch art, a process of layering, destruction, and recomposition applied to his own photography. Beginning with subjects he finds significant or beautiful, he pushes images past recognisability through digital manipulation, transforming photographs into abstract compositions where meaning is left open to the viewer.
His work explores the relationship between memory and reality. Photography appears to freeze truth, and memories feel fixed, yet both are fragile and mutable. Each recollection subtly reshapes the original moment, layering interpretation over interpretation until facts becomes subjective. The glitched image becomes a metaphor for this instability, a blurring and reconfiguring of what we believe to be true
