Painter

Katharine Papadogianis

Katharine Papadogianis (b. 2006, Toronto) is an oil painter, currently completing a BA (Honours) from the University of Guelph in Studio Art and Philosophy. Her work focuses on a shared condition of contemporary life: how fragments of propaganda, social media, religion, violence, philosophy become embedded into our own experience, and how we carry pieces of lives we have never lived. Katharine's work aims to create a world that gathers those fragments into a shared emotional space, where paintings depict more of a scattered feeling than a particular event. The human form is used as a commentary on universal traits of humans, and global hyperconnectivity that results in mass information of human perspectives, experiences, and tension. Katharine recently was awarded the painting award at the University of Guelph’s annual Juried Art Show, has shown in group exhibitions at Zavitz Gallery, and was published in the 26th edition of Kaleidoscope Magazine.
